George Square Competition, Burns and Nice

Glasgow City Council launched an international design competition for George Square, inviting entrants to create an aspirational design to allow this iconic landmark to regain its former status as Scotland's premier urban space. The 18th century aspiration behind the design of George Square was to create 'La Grande-Place' for Glasgow. It began as a garden with trees, lawns and fences, and, over time was populated with statues celebrating the achievements of distinguished Scots. Realm created a selection of CGIs to visualise the scheme on behalf of the shortlisted Burns and Nice.
